Feel free to join us.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAt this month\u2019s meeting, WVARA member Vince Bafetti, KB6NTW, will tell us about a Loop-on-Ground Receive Antenna for High-Noise Environments.Modern technology fills our surroundings with radio noise\u2014a pollution invisible to most, but crippling to a ham\u2019s enjoyment of the HF bands. The loop-on-ground antenna is promoted as a solution for HF receive operation in noisy environments. Can an antenna placed directly on the ground actually work? In this presentation, Vince will share simulations, construction notes, and exciting results from testing his loop-on-ground on a suburban lot in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Speaker Bio: Vince was licensed as a Novice in 1986 and has held the Extra Class license since 1988. He received his BS EECS in 1995 from the University of California, Berkeley. Vince\u2019s 30-year career in electronics systems design has taken him to many interesting companies, including NASA, Dolby, and Apple. Presently a system integration engineer for iPhone, he lives in San Jose with his wife and two teenagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three things to remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Since the west side entrance to the Red Cross Building is always locked, we recommend entering the Red Cross Building through the main entrance situated on the north side of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The Red Cross locks the main entrance at 7pm sharp, so please come early in order to get access to the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 We will be in Meeting Room 3 — about 100 feet from any entrance. As a result, late comers who knock on an outside door won\u2019t be heard from our meeting room. If you need help getting in the door, you can call my cellphone which will be posted on the front door.
