The next WVARA meeting will be Wednesday, September 9, in the conference room at the West Valley Branch Library (1243 San Tomas Aquino Road in San Jose).  Note: this will be our club’s first meeting at this new location.  This month’s presentation will also be viewable online via Zoom.  Zoom login details have been released via WVARA’s chat reflector. Social time begins around 6:40 PM, with the meeting officially starting at 7:00 PM. “Talk-in” is usually available on the Association’s repeaters. The best choice would be 2m/220. Several of us will meet at 5:30 PM for dinner prior to the meeting down the street from the library at Mendocino Farms (1696 Saratoga Ave in San Jose). Feel free to join us. At this month’s meeting, Oliver Barrett, KB6BA, will bring us up to speed on how to get active on 1.2 GHz, including guidance on where people can find and purchase 1.2GHz radios at a reasonable price as well as local networks.  (By the way, in addition to 1.2 GHz Oliver also has fun on higher frequencies and helped set a 122 GHz world distance record of 139 kilometers!)
